Modern yoga is actually a very different practice in comparison with yoga taught some decades ago. It was much more successful in relation to diseases and used for dealing with many serious problems such as asthma, heart disease and even cancer. Most importantly, classical yoga increases oxygen levels in body cells due to one secret that was recently revealed. Here it is necessary to note that different types of cancer are based on low oxygen levels in body cells.
But modern yoga generally, if we consider thousands of people practicing yoga, does not help with low oxygen levels in body cells because it teaches many weird things in relation to transport of oxygen to cells. For a detailed list of and analysis of problems with modern yoga and what the essence of yoga is, you can consult this video about the main yoga secret: Yoga.
First of all, modern yoga teachers are obsessed with poses while neglecting the essence of yoga. Indeed, if you visit yoga classes, you notice that it is over 90 % postures and less than 10 % breathing exercises. These postures can be practiced for years without any changes in health and results for the body oxygen test.
Secondly, modern yoga does not have any criterion or number, while classical yoga texts say that we need to gradually increase the durations of cycles while practicing the main breathing exercise called Pranayama. If a yoga student practices pranayama with the same durations, there would be no improvements in health. This forgotten crucial role of pranayama is due to another confusion that is prevalent among modern yoga teachers, but it is 100 % proven by science that people with cancer breathe too much air at rest.
Science also claims that when we breathe more air at rest, we get low oxygen levels in body cells. And classical yoga knew that hyperventilation is not good for us. However, modern yoga teachers still spread ideas about usefulness of deep breathing (breathing more air) and poisonous qualities of carbon dioxide. Curiously, classical yoga says that we should hold breath as much as possible and breathe less air, but modern yoga teachers suggest to breathe more air in order to get increased oxygen levels in body cells. And this great Amazon Kindle book written by leading self-oxygenation and breathing expert Dr. Artour E Rakhimov Yoga explains the whole story with 100′s of medical studies to support correctness of classical yoga claims about breathing less.
Another confusion created by modern yoga teachers is that, when discussing breathing, they are obsessed with the idea of breathing exercises while denying basal or unconscious breathing patterns. It is surely not important how you breathe for 1 or 2 hours of your breathing exercises. But it is more important for prevention of cancer and other diseases how you breathe for the remaining part of each day since we need high oxygen levels in body cells all the time.
Furthermore, while applying correct Pranayama yoga student can increase oxygen levels in body cells and eliminate the key cause of cancer. The problem here is again that classical yoga texts provide smart ideas about Pranayama suggesting to make all periods of this breathing exercise smaller. For example, a yoga student or a person with cancer can practice Pranayama with 4-5 large breaths per minute while inreasing alveolar carbon dioxide content and making his or her basal breathing slower and less. After some weeks of practice, this student can have only 3 or even 2 breaths per minute. This will take place due to adaptation of the breathing center to higher alveolar carbon dioxide content and slower basal breathing at rest. After some months or years, this student can have only 1 or even 0.5 breaths per minute while practicing Pranayama.
When basal breathing at rest gradually becomes slower, blood carbon dioxide content will be increasing. This process can take months or years of training. Higher blood carbon dioxide content means better O2 transport to cells due to expansion of blood vessels and the Verigo-Bohr effect (easier release of O2 in cells).
One Ukrainian doctor Sergey Paschenko, MD organized a clinical trial on women with metastatic breast cancer. He achieved a stunning success. In 3 years, the mortality rate in the group of people who practiced breathing exercises to increase O2 levels in body cells was nearly 6 times less. For more details, about this published medical trial and how breathing techniques can increase oxygen levels in body cells and defeat even metastatic cancer, you can study this Amazon Kindle book written by Dr. Artour E Rakhimov: Cancer. The full title of this Amazon Kindle book is “Cancer: Medical Triumph with Self-Oxygenation Therapies”. The book has a PDF version as well.
However, one needs to understand that just pranayama or some other breathing exercises are not sufficient to increase oxygen levels in body cells and defeat cancer. A yoga student needs to make changes related to lifestyle. For example, mouth breathing and talking too much reduce blood carbon dioxide content and brain cells oxygenation. Many other factors such as supine sleep, overeating and lack of exercise also make breathing at rest heavier and deeper and causes low oxygen levels in body cells.
